I need help with indentifying this plant and any information you may have about it. This a past down through 5 generations plant and our family has always called it, "grandpa's plant" It is very easy to grow and keep as a houseplant. Thank you for any help and have a wonderful day. CJ

Re: Please help with information on this plant.

It reminds me of a Tradescantia, one of the Wandering Jew family, but I don't know which one. Does it have any little hairs on it? Have you ever seen it fower? A 3 petaled flower would confirm it. I first thought of "Moses in a Basket" plant [a Tradescantia also] but it doesn't look quite right.

Re: Please help with information on this plant.

Good morning,
Thank you so much for helping me. It doesn't have any little hairs on the leaves. They have a thick, slick, wax feeling and it does't bloom. It just sends out long stalks and then develops a new rosette on the end of stalk then that one will do the same and so on and so on. We had one that from the first rosette, it measured 9 1/2' long. Here is a new picture of one that show how it will grow long. Thanks, CJ

Re: Please help with information on this plant.

I found it! This was a tough one, it is in the Wandering Jew family, Commelinaceae. It is a Basket Plant, Callisia fragrans. It is also know by the older name Spironema fragans. Here is a link to it.
