Ensete Superbum seeds
I have some Ensete Superbum seeds that I am germinating, I have them in baggies and some are sprouting, I want to know when it is safe for the seedlings to come out of the bags. Will the humidity change be damaging to them? If so should I put them in pots, and stick another bag over the top. When is it safe to change the humidity?

Re: Ensete Superbum seeds
I have started many different tropicals from seed, mostly palms, but I have successfully germinated and grown one musa banana this year (with great patience!). I've not grown ensete before, but based on my experience with this type of banana once the seed had sprouted a solid root (1+ inch long) I removed it from the baggy and planted into a pot with moist soil. I kept the pot in bright light but out of direct sun and kept the soil moist at all times. I did not put a bag overtop but I did mist frequently with a spray bottle (twice daily). Once the banana pushed thru the soil, it grew rapidly and I gradually moved it into sun.
I understand the Ensete Superbum are much easier to germinate than other types of banana. Are you planning to sell these? I'd be interested to know.
Good luck, and have fun!

Re: Ensete Superbum seeds
Hey Palmera,
this post is from one of the kids I teach, there will be a plant sale, I'll keep you posted as to when exactly. It will have a bunch of tropicals, succulents/cacti, cordys, agave and such. We will probably have some left over T. fortunei palms, and dragon fruit cactus from this past summer as well.

Re: Ensete Superbum seeds
Kai this came from another forum:
" I think he may as well just pot up the seedlings as soon as they germinate. In my very limited experience, the sooner you get them potted up, the more quickly they take off, humidity or no humidity. Others will know more"
