Plant ID help for two species near Rocky Point Vancouver Island
Hi, this is my first post and I am hoping that someone can help with the ID of the following plants. All photos were taken from southern vancouver island. The first two are of the same plant in the upper intertidal zone and the second in an upland area that includes Garry Oak forests. Any help would be appreciated.

#1 might be Pacific Samphire (Salicornia virginica, AKA American glasswort, perennial saltwort)...the brown parts would be last year's flowering stems, but it's hard to see anything at the base. It is reminescent of samphire, however, and it does occur in intertidal situations as pictured.

Thanks for the replies. I am convinced that we have got Vinca Major. I don't think the first two photos are of Salicornia though as I saw some elsewhere and it did not seem the same. Maybe the photos are not good enough to figure this out from....I wish I had more info to give out on the first two pics but I didn't grab a specimen or really look too closely...
I was sort of wondering if it might be an invasive spartina...but none of the images I've looked at seem to match quite right.
