I have some sort of fertilizer its power 10 - 15 - 10.
Can I fertilize my little, young citrus trees? (my plants is in pots, about 5 months old)
If yes,how often can I do that?
Thanks

Re: Grapefruit and lemon trees fertilization

Hey,
10-15-10 thats for flowering plants so i dont think it will do any harm if used at a low low dose, u should probaly try and get a citrus 'fruit n flower' fertilizer especially for citrus to ensure it gets the right nutrients for it to produce big fruit, because there so young maybe a liquid feed would be safer, there not expensive and you can use them once a week no problem.

hope that helps not sure if theres any point me mentioning some good fertilizers as im not sure would you have the same ones as we use here.

Re: Grapefruit and lemon trees fertilization

Actually, 10-15-10 is a terrible fertilizer for citrus. Citrus trees always absorb nutrients in the ratio of 5-1-3, meaning for every 5 parts of nitrogen the roots absorb, the tree will ONLY absorb 1 part of phosphorous (the 2nd number), and 3 parts of potassium. You also MUST use a fertilizer that also contains trace minerals. Citrus are HEAVY feeders, and require a lot of nutrition, therefore, applying a low low dose will quickly result in nutrient deficiency. If you cannot locate a fertilize with the optimum 5-1-3 ratio, then purchase one with the formula 30-10-10 WITH TRACE MINERALS. Fertilize your tree a minimum of once a month, twice a month is much better. Good luck to this tree. - Millet (1,169-)
