My morning visitor.

I almost plucked this big guy off of one of my bougainvillea this morning thinking
it was a dead leaf. I have to say this was the largest moth I have ever seen at least a good 4 to 5 inch wing span.

Re: My morning visitor.

How nice!
Thks for sharing some of the Floridian wild life with us.
Gosh, you just find it in your bouganvillea, ah! Is that the pink in the background?
We get a nice purple giant moth around here sometimes but it's been years since I've seen one.

What an awesome beauty! This is called an Imperial moth...I think you have the male in this image? The female is even bigger!

Re: My morning visitor.

Just want to say thank-you all for your comments and thank-you C.Wick for the info on what this beautiful creature is…here is a photo of what the bougainvillea looks like sorry for the awful shot..I think it’s a “Pink Pixie” I rescued it from what I call the dead plant isle/clearance section…I nick named it the octopus plant it grows differently then the other bougainvillea I love to collect.

Sooooo,
Not all bougainvilleas are climbers?
Looks like a great plant to collect.
