Hi Norielle,
I'm sort of new to orchids myself (started last year). Phaleonopsis orchids are great for beginners, they are relatively easy to grow, not overely expensive and are absolutely beautiful. They come in all colors and can be large or very small. I've found they bloom once a year, but need good care all year round. They seem to like bright indirect light, good ventilation (air movement). I water mine with lukewarm water when the soil or wood chips are dry, and fertilize with Schult's special plant food for orchids. I also mist them regularly, but not everyday. I've also found that they hate standing in water. It's best to prop the flower stems with light bamboo sticks almost as soon as they start. I learned this the hard way. My first plant honored me with a new flower stem this year and I accidentally broke it. I broke my heart at the same time. I guess I'll have to wait 'til next year for that one. I also use very small hair clips to attach them to the sticks. These seem to be firm enough to hold them yet they give the stem enough room to grow. I don't know anything about propagation and would love more advice on how to grow and maintain these beautiful plants
