Pressed Plants - Creating Botanical Art from Your Garden (Course)

Course Details Pressed flowers and foliage can become beautifully framed botanical art. It is also a wonderful way to display and enjoy the beauty of your garden beyond the spring and summer, preserve a botanical keepsake as a memory from a vacation destination, or create a unique gift. In this course, participants will learn the history & purpose of botanical collections, observe the tools and techniques for successfully preserving plant specimens, participate in an outdoor collecting demonstration, and create unique pieces of botanical art.
Instructor Linda Jennings. Linda was born in California, the City of Orange, and began her interest in northwest native flora some 15 years ago while living in Eugene, Oregon. She received her BSc. at the University of British Columbia in 2001 and continued with her education at UBC earning a MSc. studying the morphology, ecology, and population genetics of a rare sunflower. She previously worked at UBC Botanical Garden as the accessions technician. Currently, she is the collections manager at the UBC Herbarium. Linda is a member of the Native Plant Societys of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
