Seminar Details Brent Hine, Curator of the E.H. Lohbrunner Alpine Garden at UBC Botanical Garden, recently completed a seed-collecting trip where he investigated the Great Basin and intermountain region in the states of Nevada, Oregon and Washington. This is a dry-land biome between western North America's coastal mountains and the western Rockies. This unique flora will be represented a new garden feature appropriately called the 'Intermountain Habitat'. Pending good weather, this lecture will be followed by a tour of the Alpine Garden by Brent.  

Lecturer Brent Hine, Curator of the E.H. Lohbrunner Alpine Garden at UBC Botanical Garden. Brent Hine completed a horticultural apprenticeship at Humber College in Toronto in 1989. He began work at UBC Botanical Garden in 1994 and became curator of the E.H. Lohbrunner Alpine Garden in 1997. He is currently focused on developing research collections of herbaceous plants for potential use in research projects and renewing various components and habitats of the Alpine Garden. He is also building a digital image database of plants in the garden.
