Seminar Details Peter Wharton is the curator of the Asian Garden at UBC Botanical Garden. He is well known for his work at the garden and for his plant explorations. He makes regular trips to Asia to make scientific collections of important plants for study and conservation. During this seminar, Peter will share a slide presentation and some information from his most recent trip in China. Pending good weather, this lecture will be followed by a tour of the Asian Garden by Peter.  

Lecturer Peter Wharton, Curator of the UBC Botanical Garden David C. Lam Asian Garden. Peter graduated with a forestry degree from the University of North Wales, U.K. in 1973, before training as an arborist at the Merrist Wood Agricultural College in Surrey, U.K. He immigrated to Canada in 1975 and has spent 30 years working at UBC. Peter has led or participated in nine field expeditions to China, South Korea and northern Vietnam. Today, his prime focus is the conservation of the unique biodiverse forests of western China and northern Vietnam.
