Advanced Flower Arranging - Nature’s Creative Edge (Course)

Course Details The first step to creativity in flower arranging is to be able to identify and appreciate the creative components nature provides us. Hitomi Gilliam, one of the foremost experts in the world of floral design, will review the elements and principles of design to help clarify the designing process, share her incredible design ideas inspired by the winter landscape at UBC Botanical Garden, and teach the class to arrange stylistically while the course participants create their own floral masterpieces.
Instructor Hitomi Gilliam, American Institute of Floral Design, is a world-renowned keynote lecturer, demonstrator, instructor, consultant, and expert in the art of flowers and floral design. She has lectured at major galleries, museums and botanical gardens in North America and taught overseas — Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. She has authored 5 books; her latest, “Creative Edge” is due out in November 2007. In addition, Hitomi received the American Institute of Floral Designers 'Design Influence Award' in 1998, and was the 2006 recipient of the American Horticultural Society's 'Frances Jones Poetker Award'.
