2nd Biennial Biodiversity Education and Conservation Colloquium
From April 12 to 14, 2006, join fellow environmental educators, botanical garden professionals and conservation biologists from across Canada to exchange experiences and innovative ideas for engaging the public in conservation!

Plant Conservation, Sustainable Development and Grand Strategies: Is Canada up to the Challenge of Global Targets for 2010?

Adaptation and Conservation of Conifers in the Face of Climate Change.

The event also features: inspiring examples of original and effective programming in conservation and biodiversity education; daily panel discussions sharing experiences and ideas for teaching about the importance of biological and plant diversity to audiences of all ages; and the launch of “Conserving Plant Diversity: the 2010 Challenge for Canadian Botanical Gardens”, an action plan for expanding and improving plant conservation efforts and education for sustainable development.
A plant conservation banquet will be held on April 13, hosted by the entertaining David Tarrant, UBC’s celebrity gardener.
Collectively, Canadian botanical gardens and arboreta host over five million visitors a year, deliver educational programs to about 500,000 people and are making significant contributions to the conservation of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable living.
