Engaging the Public in Conservation
A colloquium to discuss ways to educate the public on conservation issues is being planned for April 12th and 14th at VanDusen and April 13th at UBC. Beth Brierley, Education Director for VanDusen Botanical Garden Association writes, “The focus of the conference will be on sharing ideas/good practice, grass-root implementation and development of new and innovative education programs.”
Delegates invited will include Canadian botanical garden professionals (including educators, botanists/ecologist, managers), and environmental educators in the Vancouver area.
The format for each day will include:
* A keynote speaker each morning (with a conservation focus: informing our practice with up to date conservation information)
* 3 “best practice” case studies on plant conservation and/or conservation education
All Invitations, pre-colloquium information, registration information etc. will be sent out online via email during the month of February. If you are interested in taking part in the conference please email Beth Brierley or call 604 257-8151.
