Botany Photo of the Day
If you're a long-time visitor to the garden's web site (and if you're not, welcome!), you will notice we've launched a new feature to the site - UBC Botanical Garden's “Botany Photo of the Day”.
Botany Photo of the Day features a different plant-related image every day. We've started this project because we want to keep on trying new ways of sharing the science and beauty of plants with you.
Most days, we'll have images from the garden of plants of interest, but there'll be occasions where we'll post items such as photos of botanists, photographs from collecting expeditions, scans from copyright-expired works, and so on - as long as it's botanically-related. I also know we'll be doing a special series of images commemorating the launch of our new book in June, “The Jade Garden”.
We'll also try our best to add context to the images - either a story about the plant, or the photograph itself, or a series of links giving more information. This might not always be possible, but if you're enthusiastic about the photographs, it'll egg us on.
Let us know what you think of the initiative - feel free to comment on the images (we have to moderate to lessen the spam, unfortunately, but that's the reality of the web these days).
Enjoy, learn and share!
