UBC Botanical Garden Collections Data

UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research has begun to make its plant collections data available online:

UBC Botanical Garden Plant Collections

This database is a temporary measure to get some of the information about UBC Botanical Garden's plants into the research and public communities while the garden continues to develop a system that will allow researcher and public collaboration, similar in philosophy to the discussion forums.

The advanced search allows queries on scientific name, common name, families and accession numbers.

The data are not as clean as they should be, but the garden believes airing the data in public is good incentive to improve. The garden is currently hampered by a rickety primary database, which is slated for replacement.

Discussions about the plant collections are welcome in the Questions and Discussion about UBC Botanical Garden forum.
