Seeing the Forest Beneath the Trees
An introductory workshop on non-timber forest products will be presented at the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge, BC on June 19, 2004 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Non-timber forest products, or “NTFPs”, have a wide array of uses, including food, medicine and decoration. Participants of this workship will discover some common edible wild plants, learn how to make an evergreen wreath, discuss how to integrate non-timber products in forest management and experience some of the ways in which West Coast Aboriginal peoples used the wealth of the “forest beneath the trees”.
This workshop is presented by:
- The Centre for Non-Timber Resources, Royal Roads University
- Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, University of British Columbia
- FORREX (Forest Research Extension Partnership)
Registration ends June 12, 2004. The cost is $60 per person before May 21 or $70 after.
