Name The Apple Contest! (2003)

Agriculture and Agrifood Canada is hosting a Name The Apple contest. A new variety of apple needs a name, and Ag Canada is asking the public for help. This new variety was developed by the apple breeding program at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre in Summerland, British Columbia.

Visitors to last year's Apple Festival may remember the apple as "Apple #8S6923." This apple was a quick favourite of anyone who tasted it, and sold out quickly.

The contest closes September 21 and the new name will be announced October 2nd. The newly-named variety will be featured at this year's Apple Festival.
