Support Our Mission – Support the Garden
Excellence in plant research, education and conservation is our mission at UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research.
We invite you to help us pursue our mission through a number of ways: donating as a Patron Member, becoming a Garden Pass Member, promoting the garden on the web or in person, visiting the garden, volunteering and more (web pages for volunteering coming soon). Your support is a welcome contribution to our efforts to research and understand plants, share our knowledge with the public locally and globally, teach the next generation of scientists, inspire artists and preserve the natural world.
Director's Message
Welcome to the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research.
Our aim is excellence in research, education, conservation and amenity - in response to a global environmental crisis and recognizing the central role of plants in people's lives. Plants are the means by which the sun's energy is fixed to provide us with food, clothing and fuel, as well as a livable environment for us and other organisms. With increasing desertification, deforestation and plant species loss (particularly in the tropics), our current understanding of plants - our most important sustainable resource - seems more and more woefully inadequate.
A botanical garden provides the tools, and a community of scholars, to improve our knowledge, educate the next generation, help safeguard the global plant resource, and, last but not least, show how a garden for science can provide a place of beauty in a major city.
If you can help us achieve more for people and plants, please or Development and Fundraising Officer, (604-822-8910).
